Charles Esten talks Birchmere holiday gig, new album, season 3 of 'Outer Banks,' and more!

7NewsDC — For many years we've been celebrating the holidays with Charles Esten and we were so excited to welcome him back to the big yellow couch as we head into Christmas weekend. The multi-talented actor-singer-songwriter is back in town for another show at the Birchmere tomorrow night. We discussed his new tour, his new album in the works, season 3 of "Outer Banks," and much more.

(Esten) wrote one of the band’s most popular original songs, called “Walk the Bridge,” about the lore of the Crim Dell bridge. Puskar recalled the first time the band played it together: “All of a sudden, the song just comes alive all around me, in their fingertips and in their playing. That was a life-changing moment for me. It set me down the path of where I am today.”

On Friday, Esten returns to another regular gig in town: his annual "Light the Late Night" concert at 3rd & Lindsley, which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It immediately follows the organization's "Light the Night" walk and festival, happening Friday night at First Horizon Park.

For this year's concert, Esten is performing alongside "Nashville" castmates Clare Bowen ("Scarlett O'Connor" on the show) and Jonathan Jackson ("Avery Barkley").

‘Three chords and the truth’ ‘Nashville’ and ‘Outer Banks’ star Charles Esten returns to the Paramount on Saturday

By Tom Netherland, special to The Herald Courier

Pleasant applause greeted Charles Esten last year when he strode across the stage of Bristol’s Paramount Theater. The star of television’s “Nashville” and Netflix’ “Outer Banks” greeted the audience in kind.

By show’s end, pleasant applause was replaced by a lustrous and quite colossal reception. Attendees loved Esten and his music.

Now he’s returning. See Esten’s sophomore visit to the Paramount Bristol Theater in Bristol, Tennessee, Saturday, July 30.
